Before you choose a provider
A referral is a starting point. Take time to understand the company, the service and the terms before deciding.
Affiliate disclosure: United Fund is an affiliate referral website. We may receive compensation for introductions to third-party providers. We do not provide the underlying financial service or legal advice.
Know who you are speaking with
Ask for the provider’s legal business name, contact details and the services it offers. Confirm availability in your state directly with that provider. An introduction does not guarantee eligibility, an offer or a result.
Prepare your questions
- What service are you offering, and who is responsible for providing it?
- What are the fees, conditions and cancellation terms?
- What risks and alternatives should I understand?
- Who will receive my information, and who may contact me?
- Can I review the full terms in writing before deciding?
Understand the referral relationship
Compensation can create a financial interest in a referral. Do not assume a paid introduction is an independent comparison of every available provider. Read the FTC’s guidance on affiliate relationships and disclosures for more information.
Keep your contact choices clear
Read the consent text before choosing whether United Fund may contact you. Do not send passwords, Social Security numbers or full card numbers through a general request form. Ask how information would be shared before proceeding with any introduction.
